Archie L Kerr, 86 of Hardtner, KS, passed away Friday August 26 2016 at the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice Center at St. Francis Hospital in Wichita KS.
Graveside services will be Wednesday, August 31st 2016 at 10:00 am at Fairview Cemetery in Cherryvale KS, A Visitation will be Tuesday August 30th 2016 from 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm with the family receiving friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Potts Chapel in Cherryvale KS,
Archie L Kerr was born November 26th 1929 in Moorhead KS, the son of Leon Maxon Kerr and Alta Marguerite (Chichester) Kerr, where he lived and attended school and graduated high school from Altamont High School in 1948. He left home at the age of 14 and worked for a Rancher in the Greenwich Ks area, Archie also worked in the mines, He worked at Boeing for numerous years as a Machinist. In 1994 he retired from the Santa Fe Railroad, where he worked as a mechanic for many years.
Archie entered the United States Army in 1951 and was a mechanic in the service and was honorably discharged in 1953, On December 11th 1951 Archie L Kerr was united in marriage to Norma Arlene (Koelcsh) in Kechi KS, and Norma proceeded Archie in death on August 12th 2001.
Archie L Kerr loved farming and working his cattle on his farm in Leon KS, and Archie loved to sit and faithfully read his Bible every day, he also love to exercise as much as he could and Archie was a faithful contributor to the Boy's Town in Nebraska, Archie's late wife Norma was in a care home in the last years of her life and Archie try to spend every day being with her, most of all Archie loved spending time with his loving family and being on his farm, Archie was a member of the Mennonite brethren Church in Wichita Ks, but the last 8 years he went to the Southern Baptist Church in Kiowa KS,
Archie has lived the last eight years with his daughter in Hardtner KS, but had lived in the Wichita KS, area before that and lived on a farm in Leon KS, where he raised cattle. In Archie and Norma's marriage two daughters were adopted Martha Marlene Kerr and Marian Kay Kerr.
Archie is survived by one daughter Martha Marlene and her husband Will R Wolgamott of Hardtner KS and two brothers Norman D Kerr and wife Elizabeth of Coffeyville KS, and David R L Kerr and wife Carolyn of Bartlesville OK, and four Grand Children Aaron L Bailey of Wichita Ks, Asha Tamma of Little Elm Texas, Gayln Houck, Rachel Houck of Wichita Ks. 7 Great Grand Children, and numerous Niece's and Nephew's
Archie is proceeded in death by his parents, his loving wife Norma Arlene and daughter Marian Kay Kerr and a brother George F Kerr and a sister Alta Irene Kerr.
Memorials may be left in Archie's name to the Alzheimer's Assn, or to the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice center at St. Francis Hospital in Wichita KS, and can be left at Potts Chapel of Cherryvale KS, On line condolences can be left to the family by going to www.pottsfuneralhome.com
