Helen Virginia Jewett was born March 23, 1923, in rural Harville, Missouri to John and Grace (Delaney) Hower. She spent her early years on a farm near Harville, Missouri attending grade school and high school in, in Corning, Arkansas Neelyville, Missouri. On August 7, 1943 she was united in marriage to Joseph Roy Jenkins Jr. They had five lovely daughters. They were divorced in 1961. On July 22, 1967 in Winfield, Kansas she married Ralph E. Jewett and he died in October 1980. Helen was a member of Cherryvale First Baptist Church for many years. She was active in the beginners department and taught various other Sunday School Classes. She served as Church Clerk for many years and one time was on the Board of Trustees. She was active in PTA when the children were young. She loved her Savior and her church. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother, two sisters, a step-son and one grandson. Helen is survived by her five daughters, Virginia (Jim) Housel, Independence, Kansas, Debbie Jenkins, Independence, Kansas, Janie (Sonny) Costello, Live Oak, California, Barbara Sanders, Joplin, Missouri, Linda Ellison, Overland Park, Kansas; two step-daughters, Carolyn Sourk, Cherryvale, Kansas, Mary Jo (Roger) King, Cherryvale, Kansas; one brother, Frank (Sharon) Hower, Wichita, Kansas; one sister-in-law Mary Alice Hower, Des Moines, Iowa; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
