James (Jim) Bryon Brazil, Cherryvale, passed away March 21, 2021 at the Cherryvale Senior Living Center after a battle of cancer. Cremation has taken place with Potts Chapel. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, April 16th, 2021 at 1:00pm at Potts Chapel in Cherryvale. Memorials are suggested to the Chetopa Gun Club and can be left with the funeral home.
James was born on June 29th, 1936 in Rural Yates Center, Kansas. He was the son of Robert and Delma Brazil. He attended grade school at Clear Springs Rural School and graduated from Yates Center High School in 1954. He was drafted after high school into the United States Army. James served his country proudly in the Korea from 1954-1959.
After returning from the military James married the love of his life, Thelma Hines in Yates Center on August 12th, 1961. James had worked as a butcher in Yates Center and Humboldt and was an inspector at Parsons Precision. After retiring he worked in maintenance for 13 years.
James enjoyed all types of fishing and hunting, black powder shooting, tomahawk throwing and bowled 3 nights a week.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Thelma, brother Bobby and sister Wanda.
Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter Debra L. Brazil, sisters: Bettie Spoon of Hutchinson, KS., Charlene (Roger) Larson of Elsmore, KS., and Karen (Joe) Grisier of Yates Center, KS., brother Gary Brazil of Anis, TX., and many nieces and nephews.
