Larry Lynn Idleman, 87, joined the Lord on February 12, 2026, in Bella Vista Arkansas.
Larry was born December 13, 1938, to the parents of Charles Lee Idleman and Hazel Adelle McCoy in Independence Kansas
After graduating from Independence Senior High School, Larry entered the United States Air Force in 1959 while also beginning coursework at the local community college.
Larry completed his service in 1963 then attended the Kansas State University graduating with a Bachelor of Science Electrical Engineering as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Business Management
In April 1959, Larry and Edith Marie Maher began a lifelong partnership filled with love and dedication, lasting until her passing in 2009. They built a family together with their two children, Jana and Jay.
Larry started his employment with Illinois Power in 1969 where he retired in 1994 as a Vice president of the company.
Following the death of his first wife, Edith, in 2009, Larry found companionship again when he married Millie Margaret Osborn (Miles) in 2010.
Larry’s enthusiasm for life showed in the things he loved most—sports, travel, and a good card game shared with friends. A loyal supporter of the K-State Wildcats, the Fighting Illini, and the Razorbacks, he backed each team not only with his voice but as a contributor and booster. Bowl games were among his favorite adventures, and his travels brought him joy—whether accompanying Edie as her steadfast “quilt husband” and visiting historical sites then later exploring new places with Margaret. Larry delighted in a spirited game of Pitch and never lost his fondness for blackjack.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, two brothers, and his wife, Edith
Larry was survived by his wife Margaret, daughter Jana (Clyde) Osterhout and son Jay (Lori) Idleman, as well as two grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
