Mary Sue Brown, 75, of Cherryvale, KS, passed away Wednesday, November 18, 2015, at Coffeyville Regional Hospital in Coffeyville, KS.
A celebration of life will be held Tuesday, November 24th at 2:00pm at Potts Chapel in Cherryvale, KS, with Pastor David Bennett officiating. Visitation will be held Monday, November 23rd from 9:00am to 8:00pm. Family will receive friends from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.
Mary Sue (Hanna) Brown was born November 11, 1940, in Mustang, Oklahoma, the daughter of Marcus and Gladys (Phillips) Hanna. Mary attended and graduated from the Mustang schools.
Mary worked as a civilian employee for the Department of Defense at two different Naval Air Stations in California. Upon retirement she moved to Brookings, Oregon, then San Antonio, Texas, and then to Bartlesville, Oklahoma. After the death of her husband in 2013, she moved to Cherryvale to be near her daughter.
Mary loved to travel, to cross stitch and to craft beaded jewelry. She loved animals, and shared her home with two cats and a dog. Mary also was active in Veterans Associations and several Animal Welfare organizations. Her greatest joy was spending time with her loving family.
Mary is survived by one daughter, Rhonda Gregory and husband Stan of Cherryvale, KS, and one brother Jess Hanna of Tahlequah, Oklahoma. Mary is proceeded by her parents and two brothers.
Memorials may be made to Proud Animal Lovers Shelter (PALS) in Parsons, KS, and may be left at Potts Chapel of Cherryvale, KS.
