Obituary

Nora Ellen Fiechtl-Kemp of Cherryvale, Kansas passed away peacefully at 2:40 am on Friday, November 27, 2020 at the Cherryvale Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Nora was born on April 20, 1942 in Cherryvale to parents Herman and Bertha (Berrigan) Fiechtl. She graduated from Cherryvale High School in 1960. After graduation, she married, worked, and raised 3 children.  Her children Kenneth Henson (Kim) of Independence, KS, daughter Annette Slattery (Cole) of Leesburg, VA, and daughter Rhonda Miller (Jermain) of Troy, NY survive her.  Nora was a devoted grandmother to 9 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.  Among her 12 siblings, she is survived by Jerry Fiechtl (Derby, KS), Mary Gerstenkorn (Lawrence, KS),  Rita Hansen (Cleburne, TX), Phyllis Hawkins (Independence, KS), Michael Fiechtl (Baxter Springs, KS), and Sharon Driskel (Cherryvale, KS). Nora was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Thomas and Herman (Herb), and sisters Patricia (Pat), Margaret (Doll), Helen, and Dorothy.  Many nephews and nieces also treasure her memory.

Father Zachary Pinaire will lead a rosary followed by a funeral mass at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Cherryvale, KS starting at 10:00 am on Friday, December 4th.  A graveside service will follow at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery in Cherryvale, KS.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice at 313 S.
