Raymond Wayne Jones, Cherryvale, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on the evening of Tuesday, February 27th, 2023 at Labette Health of Parsons. Cremation has taken place with Potts Chapel. A Celebration of Life Service will take place on Saturday, March 11th at 10:30am at the Crystalbrook Church located in Independence, Kansas. Memorials are suggested to the Hannah House and can be mailed to 801 W. Chestnut, Independence, KS 67301 or left with Potts Chapel.
Raymond was born on March 12th, 1946 in Niotaze, Kansas. He was the son of Glenn and Margie (Cooper) Jones. They family moved to Cherryvale when Raymond was twelve years old. He graduated from Cherryvale High School in 1964. Raymond worked for Ruskins in Parsons for 10 years then worked for USD 447 in maintenance from 1982 until he medically retired in 1999.
On March 20th, 1972, Raymond married the love of his life, Marilyn Wilkins in Cherryvale. They made their life-time home in Cherryvale. Raymond enjoyed many hobbies including; old cars, fast cars, riding dirt bikes in his younger years, hunting and fishing but most of all he loved spending time playing with all of his grandchildren and attending their events. He will be remembered for his rubber band guns and showing off his old 1967 Ford F250 known as “Big Red” at many car shows.
Preceding him in death were his sister and brother-in-law Margie and Deryl Dixon and his step-dad TJ Harris.
Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife Marilyn, daughter Karen (Ryan) Littepage, son (1st grandson) Gavyn (Lacey) Jones; grandchildren: Bryson (Avery Chism) Linnebur, Mackynzie (Dawson Carriker) Wilson, Robin Wayne Wilson, Aaryn Wilson, Rylan Elizabeth Wilson, Kimber Littlepage, Gavin Littlepage and Rylan Dawn Littlepage; honorary grandchildren: Jacob Smith and Memory Wilson; and great-grandchildren Haylie and Colton Jones.
