Velma Lee Kesler, age 90 of Cherryvale, Kansas died Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at the Cherryvale Nursing and Rehab Center.
Velma was born February 21, 1930 in Cherryvale, Kansas to Earl “Dutch” and Florence (Lyon) Kolb. She grew up in Cherryvale, Kansas and attended schools in Cherryvale. Velma worked for 20 years at H.D. Lee Company as a supervisor and for 20 years at ACC in Independence, Kansas. She was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Velma was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Treva Brown, Norma Miller, and Maxine Cripps, and brothers, Walter and Bub Kolb.
Survivors include two daughters, Kimberly Hupp of Topeka, Kansas and Kelli Castorena of Cherryvale, Kansas, six grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren, great great-grandchildren, niece and nephews, sister, Sue Johnston of Cherryvale, Kansas and two brothers, Don Kolb of Independence, Kansas and Bill Kolb of Havana, Kansas. The family will greet friends for a visitation at Potts Chapel in Cherryvale on Monday, January 25th from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. The funeral service will then follow at 1:00 pm with burial immediately following at Fairview Cemetery in Cherryvale. Memorials can be left in Velma’s name to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice.
