Virginia Lee Huffman, 87, passed away Sunday, August 18, 2019 at Medicalodge in Independence, Kansas. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Thursday, August 22, 2019 at 11:00am at the Potts Chapel in Cherryvale, KS. Visitation will be Wednesday, 1:00pm-7:00pm, with family greeting friends 5:00pm-7:00pm.
Virginia Lee Huffman was born on November 19, 1931 in Wichita, Kansas. She was the daughter of George and Lela (Briggs) Ivie. She grew up in Wellington, Kansas, graduating from Wellington High School in 1949. Two weeks later, on June 5, 1949, Virginia married Earl Huffman. They began their life together in Wellington before moving for a short time to Kansas City, Wichita, Yates Center then settling in Cherryvale, Kansas in 1980.
Virginia enjoyed quilting, working on her family tree, and creating beautiful jewelry. Blue carnations were her favorite flower.
Those preceding her death were her parents, husband Earl, daughter Julie Kiister and her brother John Ivie.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter Trish (Mike) Lewis of Independence, KS, son Keith Huffman of Carthage, MO., sister Rogene Burman of Tempe, AZ., 6 grandchildren: Robert Huffman, Cody (Jaia) Kiister, Kyle (Emily) Kiister, Brooke (Justin) Pearish, Emma Lewis and Cami Lewis, and 8 great-grandchildren.
