Virginia M Shepard 92 of Cherryvale, KS. passed away Saturday April 14,2018 at Windsor Place in Coffeyville, KS.
Graveside service will be Saturday April 21, 2018 at the Fairview Cemetery in Cherryvale, KS. at 2:30pm with the pastor Carl Ellis of The Cherryvale United Methodist Church officiating. Following the service, the family will receive friends at the Cherryvale United Methodist Church.
Virginia M Shepard was born January 22, 1926 in Cherryvale, KS, the daughter of Elza A and Ruth (Murphy) Wilson, she attended school in Cherryvale and graduated from Cherryvale High School in 1944 Virginia also attended Bevins Business college in Independence, KS. Virginia lived all her life in Cherryvale, KS. Virginia was united in marriage to Robert U Shepard on April 8, 1949 in Bentonville, AK. And they made their home in Cherryvale, KS.
Virginia worked for IAAF from 1941 to 1945 as a payroll clerk and supervisor in Independence, KS. She worked for the Montgomery County Treasurer from 1946 to 1947, Virginia worked for the Kansas Ordnance Plant from 1948 to 1951 in Parsons, KS. She also worked as a cost accountant at KAAP, cold types operator at Parsons Census Bureau, and before retiring she was a Sectary for USD447 Cherryvale, KS. for 23 Years. Virginia was a life Member the VFW Auxiliary 1186 and a life Member of the Eastern Star EVA Chapter # 18 and a Member of AARP and a Member of the Cherryvale United Methodist Church. Virginia loved to sew and attend arts and craft fairs, but most of all she loved to spend time with her loving family.
Virginia is survived by one son Robert L Shepard of Coffeyville, KS. and Four grandchildren Denise & Brian Garland of Burlington, KS. Melinda & Robert Smith of Wichita, KS. Brad & Laura Shepard of Indianapolis, IN. and Brian and Kristen Shepard of Houston, TX. and 7 Great grandchildren.
Virginia is preceded in death by her husband Robert U Shepard and her parents Elza and Ruth Wilson and one daughter Joyce Akins, one sister Donna Debo. Memorials can be left in Virginia's name to the Cherryvale United Methodist Church and can be left with the Potts Chapel of Cherryvale, KS.
